We conducted a small survey to understand how students view tutoring – what they were willing to pay, whether their parents would have supported them financially, and what they most wanted to get out of the support. The results provide an interesting picture of needs and expectations.
On average, students were willing to pay about 130 SEK per hour for really good tutoring.
Most students believed that their parents would have supported them financially, at least to some extent.
The most requested effects were:
Motivation, better structure and time management were also mentioned by several.
The survey shows that students prioritize study techniques and grades highly, but they would not be willing to pay close to market price for even very good tutoring. Many larger tutoring companies charge around 400kr/h for tutoring, and it is therefore of utmost importance to offer alternatives to this. Surprisingly, many students believed that their parents would pay for the entire or partial tutoring.
